I TRANSLATE FROM THE SOURCE LANGUAGES ENGLISH, FRENCH AND RUSSIAN TO THE TARGET LANGUAGE GERMAN.

I specialise in translating scientific and legal texts, cultural and literary texts, factual, press and marketing texts, websites, CVs and official documents. I am also happy to familiarise myself with new topics, drawing on my own network of native speakers.

TRANSLATIONS

My translation rate depends on several factors: language combination, volume, format and level of difficulty of the original text (subject area, content complexity and readability). In the case of urgent, very short deadlines and weekend deliveries, a supplement of between 20 to 50 per cent will be charged on a case by case basis. My translation rate is calculated on the basis of the number of standard lines in the source language. A standard line comprises 55 characters including spaces. Rates per standard line, rates per word, or a fixed rate quote, are available on request.

CERTIFIED TRANSLATIONS

I am happy to translate your documents into German and to have the translation certified by a notary or a public authority, e.g. birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, court rulings, articles of incorporation or contracts. My rate depends on the respective document and the applicable legal context.

PROOFREADING

Proofreading comprises checking and correcting a text for spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation, hyphenation and typography. Additionally, I check the text for uniform spellings. I offer proofreading for texts in German. My rate is CHF 70 per hour.

EDITING

When a text is edited, it is not only proofread, but also checked for content and style. I make improvement suggestions for logical structure, consistency of the argument, terminology, idiom, written expressions, style and intelligibility, taking into account your specifications and your target audience. I make only minimal changes to the text, thus preserving the particularities the original. I offer editing for German-language texts in linguistics and literary studies.

Also, I offer translation editing, which is a process of checking the translation against the source text. I correct general and translation errors and put the finishing touches to your text in terms of idiomatic expressions, intelligibility and adaptation to your target audience. My rate for editing is CHF 80 per hour.

LOCALISATION

Localisation refers to the process of optimally adapting a translation to a target culture, i.e. to local, regional, cultural and other aspects. Examples of such adaptation are names, dates, measurement units, but also references to literature, history or cultural specificities. Localisation is particularly suitable for the translation of marketing texts and websites so that your offer can optimally reach its target market. I currently offer localisation for German-speaking Switzerland and Germany.
